Trend Update – Cleansing Nettle Hair Rinse

Trend Update – Cleansing Nettle Hair Rinse post thumbnail image

Why try conditioner? When it comes to natural hair care, there is a big movement towards the “less is more”feeling. While Big Box shampoos with billions of synthetic ingredients promise coverage curls and shiny curls with silicone, those of us who have taken a more natural route know that these results are volatile at best.

Handmade and herbal hair care, on the other hand, emphasizes nutrition and balance and expects beauty to appear as the natural result of well-being. Ayurvedic hair care is a great source of inspiration for natural hair care formulators. With countless generations of herbal wisdom supporting it, Ayurveda knows a thing or two about keeping hair and scalp happy and healthy. Today’s hair rinse recipe uses two classic Ayurvedic ingredients, Aritha and Shikakai, to balance heads full of natural hair.

We combined these two Ayurvedic herbs with a tincture of nettles and a mixture of beneficial essential oils and Co2 extracts. This conditioner acts as both a cleanser and conditioner, leaving hair balanced, soft and shiny. It can be used in combination with other natural hair products such as shampoos and conditioners or as a one-step solution for daily hair care.

We decided not to add a preservative to this formula, but it would be advisable to include one in a formulation offered for sale. Marketed products containing water-based ingredients should always be tested for durability and stability. (Click here to learn more about working with curators.)

Shikakai Powder

Shikakai Powder is a classic Indian herb popular in Ayurvedic medicine, hair and skin care. Like Aritha powder, Shikakai powder is often used as a natural shampoo. It has a mild pH that provides a gentle cleansing effect that removes excess dirt and oil without leaving the hair or scalp too dry.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a valuable ingredient for natural hair care. When properly diluted, this mild vinegar cleanses, balances and soothes hair and scalp.

Aritha (Soap Nut) Powder

Aritha powder is often called soap nut powder because of its remarkable ability to produce foam and foam when infused with water. Aritha Powder is the main ingredient in countless facial cleanser and shampoo recipes. In our hair conditioner, Aritha Powder brings a cleansing benefit to complement the soothing and conditioning effects of the other ingredients.

Nature is sometimes surprising. While nettles can be an irritating plant when walking in the forest, dried grass is actually known for its soothing benefits. Nettles are the main component of our hair rinse formula that increases softness and shine while reducing itching and irritation on the scalp.

Castilian liquid soap

Castilian liquid soap is a staple for natural beauty that serves a variety of purposes. In our Hair Conditioner, Castilian liquid soap acts as an emulsifier, so essential oils and CO2 extracts can easily disperse into the formulation.

Lyophilized organic Aloe Vera powder 200X

Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory properties and is therefore a good choice for hair products. This classic beauty ingredient is also known to erase dry hair and promote a happy scalp.

Hops total CO2 extract

Hair loves Hops! We’ve added our amazing Total Hops CO2 extract to our hair conditioner to promote softness and shine. This unique and powerful ingredient would also be a great addition to shampoo bars or scalp serums.

Spearmint Essential Oil

Mint essential oil has a slightly milder and milder aroma than peppermint and is therefore a good choice to complement other oils in blends. We love how our Organic mint essential oil gives our conditioner a soft green top note and a subtle cooling sensation.

Neroli Essential Oil

The sweet and floral aroma of Neroli essential oil brightens almost any product instantly. We particularly like to use Neroli essential oil in hair care formulations, as it also helps balance oil production and sebum in the scalp.

Rosehip total CO2 extract

Rose hips, which are nutritious for the skin and hair, are perfect for giving deep benefits to hair care products. Our total rosehip CO2 extract contains antioxidants, essential fatty acids and fortifying vitamins that promote healthy scalp and hair.
